Smart offices run on data: which rooms are free, how space gets used, where to find a colleague. The real question every employee and every employer is asking is simple: can we trust what the technology does with that information?
At Nimway, our answer is built into the product. We design for security and privacy from the very first line, not as an afterthought once everything else is finished.
That starts with keeping people anonymous where it counts. When facility managers look at how a building is being used, they see occupancy patterns, not individuals. The analytics that help plan better workspaces are not designed to track who sat where.
It continues with putting you in control. Sharing your location with colleagues is turned off by default and entirely your own choice. Your location is never shared when you are in sensitive areas, like restrooms, and you are notified when someone searches for you. And of course, you can switch your location completely off whenever you want to.
Behind the scenes, the fundamentals are solid. Your data is encrypted both when it travels and when it is stored, so it stays unreadable to anyone who should not see it. System access follows the principle of “least privilege”, meaning people and systems only get the minimum access they need. The whole platform runs on cloud infrastructure located in the EU and Nimway is independently certified to ISO 27001, the international standard for information security.
Because Nimway is a Sony Group company, this work sits inside Sony's comprehensive security and quality processes, including regular audits and penetration testing by Sony's own security specialists. We are fully GDPR-compliant, and we are already preparing for EU's new Cyber Resilience Act ahead of its 2027 deadline.
We also know security is never a solo effort. Therefore, we work closely with our customers and partners, sharing insights and best practice so the whole ecosystem stays stronger together.
